De-friended For Faith

Written By: Steve - Dec• 06•11

Sad Lose“De-Friended” for faith… Yes, it’s true. Facebook friend has gone and “de-friended” me…

I tried to communicate the Word to a believer yesterday about the fact that the even the “tenth” in giving, was of the Law. I realize that smacks in the face of “tradition and religion” in the church. But it’s true!

Giving the argument that the “tenth” came before the law with Abraham, and so it should be brought forward into Grace, sounds good at first… but then, I found the “silver bullet” that wipes out that doctrine completely.

The Apostle Paul said in Galatians, “Gal 5:1  Christ has set us free so that we may enjoy the benefits of freedom. So keep on standing firm in it, and stop attaching yourselves to the yoke of slavery again.

It is “slavery” to have to follow a set of rules and regulations AND even more frustrating to realize you CAN’T!

Gal 5:2  Listen! I, Paul, am telling you that if you allow yourselves to be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.
Gal 5:3  Again, I insist that everyone who allows himself to be circumcised is obligated to obey the entire law.
Gal 5:4  Those of you who are trying to be justified by the law have been cut off from Christ. You have fallen away from grace.
Gal 5:5  For through the Spirit, by faith, we eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness.
Gal 5:6  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision matters. What matters is faith that is active through love.
Gal 5:7  You were running beautifully! Who cut in on you and stopped you from obeying the truth?
Gal 5:8  Such influence does not come from the one who calls you.
Gal 5:9  A little yeast spreads through the whole batch of dough.

Even if a pastor is teaching this untruth, it’s still a “untruth.” You may thing he or she is the greatest human alive, but “a little yeast spreads through the whole batch…”

Circumcision was established before the Law also… with Abraham. That’s right, the “tenth” doctrine AND “circumcision” BOTH came from BEFORE the Law and Paul said, “Those of you who are trying to be justified by the law have been cut off from Christ.”

There is NOTHING that has been “carried over” from the Law, INTO Grace. What matters is faith that is active through love.

Jesus said in Mat 5:17,  “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I didn’t come to destroy them, but to fulfill them.

The word “fulfill” in the original Greek is plēroō  and means, “execute (an office), finish (a period or task), verify (or coincide with a prediction), etc.: – accomplish, X after, (be) complete, end, expire, fill (up), fulfil, (be, make) full (come), fully preach, perfect, supply.

He fulfilled the Law! We could NEVER fulfill the Law. This is why God made a NEW COVENANT.

As they ate the Passover meal together in the upper room, Jesus said in Mat 26:28, ” For this is my blood of the new covenant that is being poured out for many people for the forgiveness of sins.”

The “just” shall live by FAITH, NOT the Law. The Law is the Old Covenant and Jesus said, “I have fulfilled the plan and expired the old one.”

Paul said, “Listen! I, Paul, am telling you that if you allow yourselves to be circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.

Jesus came and showed us the “Heart and Intent” of the Law. 1Co 15:56  says, “Now the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. Did you get that? The power of sin is the LAW!
1Co 15:57  But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!

Mat 22:38-40 Jesus said to him, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
This is the greatest and most important commandment. The second is like it: ‘You must love your neighbor as yourself.’

All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commandments.” The Law “COMMANDED…” The Gospel of Grace… SUPPLIES…” Which do you want?

Paul said in Rom 2:28-29,  “For a person is not a Jew because of his appearance, nor is circumcision something external and physical.
No, a person is a Jew inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by a written law. That person’s praise will come from God, not from people.”

Man always “craves” to DO SOMETHING to earn something… God says, simply rest in the finished work of Jesus Christ as the way to “please Him.”

Rom 8:3-4  “For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to deal with sin. He condemned sin in the flesh,
so that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Now when we give money, time, talents or anything we have to give, we do it from a heart FULL of love for Jesus, Our heavenly Daddy and the Holy Spirit. And it’s NOT limited to “a tenth.”

Rom 8:1  Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in union with Christ Jesus.
Rom 8:2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death. Remember, the power of sin is in the Law. We are FREE from the power of sin and the Law.
Rom 8:3  For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to deal with sin. He condemned sin in the flesh
Rom 8:4  so that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

STOP trying to earn and DO anything that God has never told you to do in the first place. We don’t give a “tenth” of our income because that’s what Abraham did. We don’t need to get circumcised if we’re a male believer.

Stop doing and start KNOWING Jesus… Col 3:3  For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. If you’ve been “born again,” your old man is dead!

We are even more generous in our giving of all things! That’s what love is… “unbounded” giving and love in Our King and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Tithe Lie…

Written By: Steve - Dec• 05•11

Tithing“Jesus wants us to TRUST Him.”

It’s been taught in the church for so long, that almost everyone believes it…

Here’s the scripture pastors and church leaders use to “convince” you to “TITHE…”

Luk 6:38  “Give, and it will be given to you. A large quantity, pressed together, shaken down, and running over will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use, you will be measured.” Jesus is NOT talking about money here… and He was not leaving the giving of money out either. But this verse is NOT to be attributed to MONEY!

That may be a HUGE shock for you, but the Word must be taken in context! What was He talking about? Read the whole thing in Luke 6:20-49

God NEVER commanded the New Covenant believers to tithe.

Now, I know I just lost most readers instantaneously, but study to show yourself approved. Don’t take any man’s word about tithing. I did NOT say, “I don’t believe we should support ministry!” But the tithe was instituted through the law.

Abraham gave a “tenth” of the surplus they re-captured. Every mention in the Old Testament referred to a “tenth” part of an OFFERING. And it was ALL directed to the Jews, NOT Gentiles and not even New Testament believers. This has been carried along into the church by “tradition,” NOT scriptural.
You will not be able to find anywhere in the New Testament about the tithe… You would have to “carry” it into your belief from the Old Covenant.

The ONLY two times Jesus talked about the tithe was when he was “rebuking” Scribes and Pharisees about their “keeping” the tithe and their hearts were no where near the will of God.

The Law Demands… Grace Supplies. If you choose to live under the Law, you will be doing what Paul said in Gal 5:4 “And if you try to please God by obeying the Law, you have cut yourself off from Christ and his wonderful kindness.”

Support ministry, but don’t preach against the Word as many preachers do, making “GIVING,” like another thing we MUST do OR else, God will not love us, honor or care for us as much any more.

If I gave nothing to any ministry for the rest of my life, God’s Grace will never leave me or stop providing for me as His child, but I will miss out on knowing that truth, that, “It really is more blessed to give than it is to receive.”

Jesus wants us to TRUST Him. His finished work is simply “complete” for us who believe and this falacy of the “tithe,” is still veiled to too many Christians. Mostly because of wrong teaching from pastors whose understanding is still veiled also, OR their unwillingness to see people free as Christ meant them to be. Fear their church will go under if they don’t keep the people believing they MUST tithe.

Support ministry! Give from the outpouring of our loving Father and Wonderful Jesus, but NEVER give from Law!

2Co 3:13  And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

Eph 2:15  He rendered the law inoperative, along with its commandments and regulations, so that he might create in himself one new humanity from the two, thus making peace,

2Ti 1:10  Now, however, it has been revealed through the coming of our Savior Christ Jesus, who has destroyed death and through the gospel has brought life and release from death into full view.

Are YOU Confused Too? Context…

Written By: Steve - Nov• 29•11

unlocking truthThe word must be taken in “context.” Context of who was the person speaking “to, with and about.” Whether it was Jesus, a prophet, an apostle or a king… What was the “context” of the subject and the meaning in context?

The Old Testament was the New Testament “Concealed…”
The New Testament was the Old Testament “Revealed…”

Even in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus was bringing forth revelation to a nation (the Jews) who had never heard such an elaboration on the meanings of how the word had been translated to them previously, by the religious leaders. After the “cross,” many things Jesus had said to the Jews AND the apostles became totally clear. And it was only after the cross and the impartation of the Holy Spirit that they could receive most of what Jesus spoke about in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Today, it’s only a clinging to a covenant that God Himself has “abolished,” that cause “born again” believers to “lack victory” and “feel condemned” most of the time, for perfunctory Christianity.

Just because the Old and New Testament come as one Bible, one book, does not mean that God wants you to cling, to what God calls, not good for use anymore. (Specifically, the Law of Moses)

Am I saying the Old Testament has no value anymore? NO.

The Old Testament was the New Testament “Concealed…”
The New Testament was the Old Testament “Revealed…”

Jesus and the apostles all said, “the law of Moses” has no purpose anymore. Did I keep my old 8 track player after I got an iPod? What for? It’s useless now!

Jesus said, “It is finished!” He came to “fulfill the law.” You and I could never do that! He had to. Now it’s all about looking to Him, trusting Him and “abiding in Him!”

When you take the Word of God literally AND in context, you’ll not go wrong!

Pray For Our Brothers and Sisters

I don’t know of any story less reported on our national news than the butchery going on against Christians in countries all over Africa, the middle East and other places in this world! Here’s a very current example…

Monica Dra and her husband heard the marchers outside their small home in Nigeria on July 26, 2009. They heard the chants of “Allahu Akbar” and wondered what the night would hold for them and other Christians in their village.

Monica in the Hospital“We had heard rumors all night that there were going to be problems,” Monica told VOM, “and now I could hear them walking and slaughtering people as they went.” Monica’s husband, Daniel James, grabbed her, and they ran outside to escape the radical Muslim mob. But the radicals grabbed Daniel and hacked him to death with a machete.

Monica began to run, with her Bible and hymn book tucked under her arm. But members of the chanting mob grabbed her and began striking her with machetes. Seeing a cross on a chain around Monica’s neck, a militant began to chop at her neck, nearly decapitating her. By the time Monica got to the hospital, she could only breathe through the gaping wound left by the lethal blade.

“I thought, ‘I am a Christian,’” she said. “I am dying today.”

But Monica didn’t die. After six surgeries to repair her throat and close the wound in her neck, doctors were able to save her voice. Through VOMedical, Monica, a poor widow with a 5-year-old child, received excellent medical care and post-op follow-up. Thanks to generous donations from VOM supporters, Monica is among the more than 600 Christians who have received medical care after being injured because of their Christian faith.

Monica now needs only one more surgery to regain her normal speaking voice. “Now that I have my strength back, I have forgiven my attackers,” Monica said. “Now I have more courage to serve the Lord much more.”

We don’t know where the next attack will occur. Nigeria? Indonesia? China? But VOMedical is committed to serving those who are injured by acts of persecution. Your generous support enables us to act immediately, providing care and healing to our persecuted family members.

We’re Confused About Our Citizenship

Written By: Steve - Jun• 04•11

ConfusedI just read a glowing report on Facebook about a lady who calls herself a “prophetess.” She appears to be a normal Christian lady, but has listed the Democratic Party on her profile. I can hear some of you saying, “So what Steve…” “So what if she states her political affiliation?”

“We are in this world, but not of this world.” (To quote a popular Christian phrase..) To which many quote, with the same sincerity as saying, “pass the ketchup!”

Too many Christians don’t REALLY get it. The apostle Paul (who WAS a REAL apostle, btw), said, “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.”

Oh, I know there will be many “believers” who will read this and say, “Are you saying Christians shouldn’t get involved in politics?” NO. If God told you to get into politics, then do it. Support those with prayer that share godly and right views based on God’s word. But for the average saint, taking the political view about anything is NOT what we’re suppose to be focused on!

Paul said, “So put to death the sinful, earthly things lurking within you. Have nothing to do with sexual immorality, impurity, lust, and evil desires. Don’t be greedy, for a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world.

As His people called by His name, we are to be about Kingdom business. We all already spend plenty of time doing our own business and minding our own concerns. But HOW can anyone be so deceived as to say, “I’m a Democrat or Republican or Independent,” when you’re NOT even a citizen of this world?

It’s simple… The reason is because many saints don’t understand the calling, position and purpose of  Calvary. Their “affections” are on this earth and this world system and they want to function fully in it!

I can just hear others saying right now, “Yeah, but we have to live in this world now…” I would say, “You’re absolutely right!” “You have to live in it as Christ did.”

Maybe we need to drag out the old WWJD bracelets and start asking ourselves that question once again! We have been called to do TWO Major things with our life here on earth and nothing more!

Know the love of Christ as we know Him better and better and SHARE that Good News with others every opportunity we get!

In fact, the Apostle Paul said, “Let your conversation be gracious and attractive so that you will have the right response for everyone.” Jesus said, ““You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” When are almost no different than those of the world, we are as worthless for Kingdom purposes as they are.

They have an “excuse” not to be focused on Kingdom business… Do you? Maybe you are a believer in Christ, but your focus has really become blurred. Let me recommend you listen to this podcast HERE
