How is it possible to be a Christian, to see what the early church in Acts was like and yet be powerless in the year 2016?
Most believers are content to go have a “soul lifting,” feel good worship service and then go back to their routine the rest of the week and then… go back and do the same thing over again, week after week after week.
They never see lives changed or the Bible alive in their life or the lives of those they pray for. They have repented of their sins, accepted Jesus Christ and some have even been baptized, but what is lacking, that they don’t seem to DO the works that Jesus said we would do “and greater?”
Jesus was recorded saying it in the Gospels…
John 14:12 12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
Mark 16:18 “they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Why? Because I’m a Christian. (You’re thinking, “what is he talking about?” Goals are good!)
I’m NOT saying it’s wrong to have goals and hopes and dreams, but I’m saying that anything you think you’ll be attaining from your own efforts is a weak “resolution.”
We need help. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be a “Jenny Craig or Weight Watchers” for people wanting to diet.
When we finally realize we need help too, we’ll be on our way to reaching God centered goals in our lives.
My goal for this year? Keep “religion” as far away from me and my family as possible… Happy New Year!
The Bible is that proof that Jesus IS the Messiah. Other “religious” realms have NO proof and NO real foundation on which to build their faith.
They only build out from “emotions, opinions and false hope.”
A Christians “faith” is in the proven Savior. Proven to be who He said He is… This one fact separates this “religion” from all others…
Sometimes we think it’s a history book. Sometimes we see it as a book about different people and their frailties.
And it contains all those elements, but it’s really many books about One Person. When you see it that way… your life will change forever!
John got it right when he said, “Jesus did many other things. If they were all written in books, I don’t suppose there would be room enough in the whole world for all the books.” John 21:25
When we want to go somewhere, we have to first start the car. Until the correct order of things we won’t go anywhere. We may have a full tank of gas… just changed the oil with fresh and washed and waxed the outside.
We’ll still sit there till the driver starts the car. What “starts” our car?
